I have heard of making payments via card readers attached to the audio jack of mobile devices (Paypal Here, Square) but this is the first time I have heard of making payment using the camera of your mobile device.

米eBay傘下のPayPalは7月17日（現地時間）、スマートフォンのカメラでクレジットカード情報を読み込むモバイル決済技術を提供する米新興企業card.ioを買収したと発表した。買収総額などの詳細は明らかにされていない。
Ebay affiliate Paypal announced on July 17 the acquisition of card.io which provides mobile payment solution that reads credit card info using cameras. The details of amount and others were not disclosed.
