Ever wondered why you cannot connect to FTP or other devices from your newly installed Ubuntu device? If you are a newbie to Linux you are probably not aware of iptables.
Apparently there is a built-in firewall. For Linux beginners fortunately there is a GUI.
On Ubuntu 11.10 go to Dash Home then input ufw.
For us beginners maybe we can start with enabling or disabling the firewall first.
